3rd piece of work

This is an Art Deco poster that I designed last year as one of our assignments.

I found a picture of this 1930s 'flapper' girl and brought the photo into Illustrator and used the Live Trace tool to create this cool effect. In my research I found that Art Deco pieces used a lot of vibrant bold colours in their designs. They also use a lot of geometric shapes which i mimicked in my design.

Elements and Principals used in this design include:
Line: I used both straight sharp lines and soft curved lines
Shape: I've used circles, triangles and a rectangle.
Tone: The different tones of the girl's skin and clothes
Texture: The texure of the girl's flapper dress and the texure of her hair.
Letterform: I've used 2 different fonts to convey the message.
Colour: There are both greyscale aspects and full colour.
Contrast: The light and dark aspects of the girl, the contrast between the girl being greyscale and the rest of the poster being full bright colours.
Hierarchy:
The girl is definately the 1st this you see in this poster.
Pattern: The use of the shapes has been repeated.

Good mimickery. You explained the purpose to copy a style based on your research. Well done. Identifiable line, point, colour and repetition make this work. Again contrast is used colour to grey scale.

What do you think of the font?
