This is a design that I created 2 years ago for my year 12 design major. It is a t-shirt design for a fictitious brand called 'mimic', complete with price tags. I chose the subject first as I thought it would be fun to dress my brother up as a mime artist. I then called it 'mimic' as it relates directly to the job of a mime artist: to mimic people. I wanted the design to be fun and humourous.
I took the images into Photoshop and played around with the brighness and contrast to make it very contrasted. For a bit of colour I painted his lips red.
To give you a bit of an idea of the compostion of the pictures on the t-shirt; the 3 mimes down the bottom were used on the front of the t-shirt, the small faces were used on the sleeve and the text was put vertically on the back of the t-shirt down one side.
The elements & principals of this design:
Tone: The tone of the skin varies as it can be quite dark and then quite light depending where the light hits it.
Texture: The texture of the type font has a rough grungey look about it.
Colour:Minimal colour has been used, the only actual colour is red.
Contrast: As i said before I purposely turned up the contrast in this design to give it a bold, interesting feel.
Hierarchy & scale: Some of the figures are bigger than others. The text is quite large which means that is dominating.
